Natural elements

Earth, water, air and light

Emanuel Felke sensed, probably from his own strong intuition, that the Naheland was a special place of the beneficial elements earth, fire, water, and air, and was happy to follow Andres Dhonau's request to help him establish the FELKE-Jungborn “Kurhaus Dhonau” in Sobernheim.

Over 2,000 years ago in Greek mythology, these 4 elements were considered to be the primal elements from which everything originated.

Over 2,000 years ago in Greek mythology, these 4 elements were considered to be the primal elements from which everything originated.

The earth, associated with female symbolism, is the basis from which all life emerges. The original Bad Sobernheim healing mud treatment with its individual forms of therapy has given Felke the nickname “Mud Pastor”. The healing earth, “mud”, is harvested from a pit very close to the hotel, in the Nightingale Valley.

Mud is one of the oldest remedies in human history and has a great significance for health in all cultures. The classic mud bath can be taken daily in the open-air bathing facilities near the Nahe riverbank or in the heated mud hall. Each guest receives their designated mud bath for the duration of their stay. In hot months the mud bath is a cooling oasis, in cooler temperatures the warm mud halls facilitate a pleasant bathing climate.

Alternatively, there is also a modern application of mud bathing originating from old Egypt – the “Rasul bath”, a full body inunction of medicinal mud in an herbal steam bath. Regular mud baths promote blood flow, relieves the connective tissue through its strong drainage effect, stimulates the lymphatic circulation and acts as an alkaline remedy, draining and deacidifying.

The Felke “Sitzreibebad” (seated exfoliation bath) in the morning is the application that is taken on by our guests in their own daily routine at home. The application is carried out right after getting up in the morning in special bathtubs in the open-air bathing facilities near the Nahe riverbank. Although this short cold-water shower only lasts a few seconds, the guests immediately afterwards feel the pleasantly stimulating and vitalising effect when tapping the meridians, which has a positive effect on the vegetative nervous system and strengthens the circulation.

The Naheland around Bad Sobernheim is one of the mildest regions in Europe. Surrounded by meadows, forests, lakes, and rivers, you should use the untouched nature in our homeland to renew the energy within yourself.

Exercising in the fresh air is a generally self-evident principle of preserving your health and is therefore also an important component of the Felke therapy in our establishment. With your daily dose of morning water gymnastics, step aerobics, meditations, hikes (sometimes including a stop at one of the Nahe vintners or at the Rhineland-Palatinate Open-Air Museum), bicycle tours, etc., we take special care to incorporate the beautiful nature at BollAnts.
